FUNDACJA SEMPER AUGUSTUS

Cultivating knowledge, heritage, and progress for future generations.

Welcome to the Semper Augustus Foundation

This is where heritage meets innovation, where knowledge gets put to work creating real impact that lasts.

Our name comes from that legendary Semper Augustus tulip. Kind of reflects something rare and timeless, something worth preserving while still moving forward. We're focused on protecting what matters from the past while growing ideas that'll shape what comes next.

Here's how we see it real progress needs three things working together. Education lays the groundwork by expanding what we know and how we learn. Culture keeps art and traditions alive so they don't get lost over time. Responsibility means building up communities through projects that actually stick around for future generations.

At our core, we're trying to link history and innovation. We connect old traditions with new ways of thinking, in a way that actually helps people thrive. Whether through research grants or preservation work or community programs, we're making sure tomorrow's world holds onto excellence and basic human dignity as its foundation.

About us

The Semper Augustus Foundation supports students, doctoral candidates, and young legal practitioners in gaining specialist knowledge in financial markets, economic and commercial law, banking law, and new technologies.
Through lectures, expert discussions, conferences, and workshops, we provide free and open access to education in cooperation with leading law firms, universities, NGOs, and student organizations.

The Semper Augustus Foundation was established for students, doctoral candidates, and aspiring legal practitioners who want to gain specialist knowledge in the areas of financial markets, economic and commercial law, banking law, and new technologies.

The Foundation carries out its educational mission by organizing lectures, expert discussions, scientific conferences and practical workshops in cooperation with law firms, law faculties, other NGOs and student organizations.

The Foundation is guided by the ideal of free and open access to education, science, and research results. Projects organized by the Foundation are free of charge, and the Foundation itself is a non-profit organization.

The Foundation's founders are graduates of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. During their student days, they jointly organized a conference devoted to investor protection. The Semper Augustus tulip—a symbol of the devastating consequences of the stock market crisis—was featured in the conference's promotional materials and subsequently in the Foundation's name.

Semper Augustus Foundation

Our drama is modest, unassuming, and far from the famous hemorrhages of history. Because it all began innocently with a plant, a flower, a tulip, which—how difficult it is to imagine—unleashed collective and unbridled passions. Moreover, for those who studied this phenomenon, the most astonishing fact was that this madness affected a frugal, sober, and hard-working nation. The question arises: how did it happen that in enlightened Holland, and nowhere else, the tulip mania—tulpenwoede—reached such alarming proportions, shook the foundations of a solid national economy, and drew representatives of all social classes into a gigantic gamble.

Mission

The Semper Augustus Foundation focuses on offering free access to specialized knowledge across financial markets, economic law, banking regulations, and emerging technologies. The core idea here is simple yet vital—education serves as a public resource that should remain open to anyone aiming for academic or career advancement.

Here's how we approach this mission. First off, we back emerging talent through hands-on learning opportunities. That means hosting workshops, lectures, and conferences tailored for law students, doctoral researchers, and early-career professionals looking to sharpen their skills.

Next up is bridging theory with practice. We partner with universities, legal firms, and research bodies to turn academic insights into real-world solutions. This isn't just about papers and theories—it's about actionable knowledge that makes a difference.

Dialogue matters too. We create spaces where experts from different fields can exchange ideas with policymakers and community leaders. Think roundtables that spark debates on regulatory challenges or tech ethics discussions that shape future policies.

Accessibility stays non-negotiable. Every program runs at zero cost because financial barriers shouldn't block growth opportunities. Whether it's a webinar series on blockchain law or a symposium on market regulation equity stays baked into the process.

Now about our namesake—the Semper Augustus tulip symbolizes both potential and accountability in finance. It's not just a historical nod but a daily reminder to cultivate leaders who'll drive ethical innovation in law and business communities worldwide.
